W26-05: Thacher Calculating Instrument, Patented by Edwin ThacherW26-05: Thacher Calculating Instrument, Patented by Edwin ThacherPerhaps one the most impressive production slide rules ever made. An awesome 30 foot long slide rule packed into a 4 3/4inches sq. by 22 1/2 inches package. The unique mechanical design allows fast calculations with 4 to 5 place accuracy. One scale is laid down on a 4" diameter drum 18" long. This slides inside a ferris wheel-like drum with 20 angular bars suspended between two circular rings holding the other scales. The scales have an outstanding array of numbers! Ownership was synonymous with status. Who would dare question calculations of a Thacher owner? On the other hand, it was a machine of intimidation; it came with a 71 page instruction manual filled to the brim with equations symbols and mathematical tables. A xerox copy of this will be supplied with the unit. Very collectable and in high demand.
