Antiques of Science & Technology

W26-24. late 19th century Drum Microscope In remarkably good original condition probably late 19th century. This form was developed and used by Wollaston and Fraunhofer, manufactured in France and Germany, imported in large numbers to the States and distributed by opticians, jewelers, booksellers, spectacle and opera glass houses. They were very convenient as a pocket microscope for collectors, although its vertical form is tiring to use for long periods of time. This example is 6 1/4" tall, has the original beautiful lacquered finish and is housed in an equally fine finished mahogany box with tweezers and demonstration slide.
